Death for Ugandan Homosexuals

E-mail to Congress:

EIN News says, "Uganda Considers Death Sentence for Gay Sex in Bill Before Parliament. Life imprisonment is the minimum punishment for anyone convicted of having gay sex, under an anti-homosexuality bill currently before Uganda's parliament. If the accused person is HIV positive or a serial offender, or a "person of authority" over the other partner, or if the "victim" is under 18, a conviction will result in the death penalty. (guardian.co.uk)".

This sounds rather harsh, especially if one is likely to consider it from an emotional discrimination point of view.

However, the facts are that HIV is an incurable disease, which has the potential of significantly reducing population through early death, and reducing the constructive effectiveness of the remainder through weakness from the disease. Homosexual practices have been known to contribute to the prevalence of contamination.

Quarantine or isolation has been used previously to control the spread of virulent untreatable diseases. Jail or death are the extreme forms of isolation and can be justified under catastrophic conditions. Such seems to be the case in Africa. Several other countries have already gone this route.
